The 4th Strategy Conference provided Housing First for Women with the opportunity to present its successes and identify the challenges that remain.
Housing First as an approach has now made a name for itself in Berlin. The interim reports of the evaluation by Prof. Dr. Gerull (Alice Salomon University) and the experiences of clients and landlords show a consistently positive result.
At the 4th Strategy Conference, it was emphasized that there must be more women-specific facilities and projects to counteract homelessness. There is still a need for women-specific Housing First, so that women can be helped on their way from the street to their own home without having to face new unsettling or even (re-)traumatizing experiences. Housing First for Women gives women the chance to live independently in their own home.
We hope that the findings of the 4th Strategy Conference will have an impact on policy in order to be able to test and expand Housing First for women in the long term.
